"Swetnam, the Woman-hater, arraigned by women" by Anonymous is a Jacobean comedy published in 1620. The play emerged as the final response to a heated controversy sparked by Joseph Swetnam's misogynistic tract attacking women. Performed by Queen Anne's Men at the Red Bull Theatre, it weaves together two plots: a main story of political intrigue in Sicily's royal court, and a subplot where Swetnam himself faces trial before a court of women for his offenses against their gender.
