This eye hath but an hour to serve,
And its fine work is broke forever;
The worm shall gnaw its tender nerve,
And blessed light illume it never.
A moment more—and all is dark;
This orb, that beauteous shapes have brighten’d,
And lighted like a diamond spark,
Shall palsy, ne’er to be enlighten’d!
